How to stop spam calls on your iPhone
Last updated October 24, 2026
To cut down spam calls on iPhone, turn on Silence Unknown Callers in Settings, block each spam number as it appears, add your carrier's spam filter, and look up numbers you do not recognize. Put your number on the Do Not Call list too, though scammers ignore it.
Get Ms. Number on the App StoreSilence Unknown Callers
In Settings, open Phone and choose Silence Unknown Callers. Calls from numbers not in your contacts go to voicemail. The tradeoff is that real calls from new numbers also go to voicemail, so check it.
Block each spam number
Open the number in your Recents, tap the info button and choose Block this Caller. Blocking one number does not stop a scammer who rotates through others.
Use a carrier spam filter
Most US carriers offer a free spam-call filter. Check your carrier's support page to turn it on.
Look up numbers you do not know
A reverse lookup app such as Ms. Number shows the line type and community reports so you can decide whether to answer.
Join the Do Not Call list
Register at donotcall.gov. It stops legitimate telemarketers, but the FTC says scammers will call anyway, so keep the other steps.
